Some pictures to inspire you

Over here at Truly Madly Vintage the lovely Hayley has been working on collating some pictures to give you style inspiration and also to help if you are looking to create a specific era look for a party or event.  You can see pages for decades from the 1930s to the 1980s below and if you double click on them you'll get a bigger picture of the images.

Don't worry if you don't think you'll remember all the details as the pages are also available in the shop for you to refer to, just ask to see them and we'll have them ready for you.

So, whether you are a vintage aficionado or new to vintage styles, take a look at lovely pictures of real people wearing the fashions of the day and be inspired...

Truly Madly Vintage - In the Press talking about Private Shopping Events

We are thrilled to be included in the magazine Brides Etc April/May edition.  You can read online via this link (we are on pages 68 and 71) or pick up a free copy when you are out and about in Essex.

We wanted to tell all of the Brides Etc readers about our private shopping evenings which are perfect for events of all kinds as well as for Hen parties.  We are centrally placed within Chelmsford so you can come to us for a couple of hours of dedicated vintage shopping complete with bubbly and gift for the bride-to-be and then carry on into town for dinner, drinks and dancing at one of the many venues available.  Experiences are available every evening from 6pm and all day Sunday.

We have over 1000 items in stock at any time and you can also arrange to visit our Home shop (just down the road from the clothing shop) to see our range of gorgeous vintage furniture and homewares.  We are sure that you will find items you love but you can also rest assured that there is never a minimum spend so you are free to relax and enjoy yourselves with no sales pressure.

For more information and to book your own private shopping experience please call us on 01245 287 961.

The Royal Wedding and other important events in April

With Prince William and Kate Middleton set to walk down the aisle on April 29th many of us have started to plan what to do with our time off over the bank holiday period and we at TMV have some suggestions:

If you are lucky enough to be off work between Easter and the Royal Wedding/May Day weekends then come along to the vintage fair at the University of Essex Colchester Campus on Thursday 28th April.  It is open to all (not just students) and costs just £1 each to get in.  Inside you will find an array of stalls selling all kinds of loveliness including Truly Madly Vintage and our lovely friends from Make, Do & Mend and Sparrow and Nighingale.  We're all really looking forward to it so make sure you say hi when you see us!

On the Friday we will no doubt all be glued to our television screeens (those of us who are not going up to see the procession anyway) eager to see the events unfold and to see the most important thing of all - Kate's DRESS!  With so many rumours abound about who has designed it we can't wait to see what future-Queen Catherine has chosen, knowing that the whole world is watching she is sure to have chosen something spectacular yet classic.

On Saturday 30th April the celebrations continue with the Chelmsford Vintage and Handmade Market at the Shire Hall on Chelmsford High Street.  If you have not come along before then make sure you don't miss this opportunity to find out what our regulars know - that this is the best market in Chelmsford with a fabulous range of vintage clothing and accessories for men and women, gorgeous handmade jewellery, bags, greeting cards, candles and much, much more!  You can also stop for a rest and enjoy a lovely cup of tea in a beautiful vintage tea cup and a slice of deicious cake in the vintage tea room - lovely!

Check out the website for the Truly Madly Vintage and Truly Madly Vintage Home opening hours over the bank holidays and come along to see us to join our celebrations in store where we will have some great limited time offers to mark this very special Royal Wedding.

Marilyn Monroe Exhibition

We can't wait to get over to the American Museum just outside the City of Bath to view the exhibition Marilyn - Hollywood Icon.  This exhibition contains 20 gowns and outfits along with original photographs of Marilyn wearing them as well as other items, all taken from a private collection so these dresses will be unique and rarely seen in public.

The exhibition runs from now until 30th October so you have plenty of time to plan to visit.

More information can be found on the Bath Tourist Board website.

Photograph credits can be found on the link above.
