What do you all think about the new dress codes? Ladies are no longer allowed to wear fascinators in the Royal Enclosure, and they have become stricter on skirt lengths and types of dresses you can wear. I understand why no short skirts should be worn, but whats wrong with fascinators?? (Although I'm sure Mary Portas would disagree with me)  Check out the lovely photos provided from Royal Ascot .

Right, I'm off to watch Wimbledon and drink Pimms - or is it too early for Pimms o clock? ;)

New shop: The Dinky Emporium!

We heart this new shop, called The Dinky Emporium! It is a collaboration of 'From Betty Frank' & 'Valerie's Attic', who have worked hard to create a wonderful vintage & antiques emporium. They sell clothing & furniture from 1930s to 1980s, you can find them in the View Garden Centre, Wickford, ideal for strolling around on a summer's Sunday!

See below for a sneak peak of the shop!

For more info, see the girls facebook pages: From Betty Frank  & Valerie's Attic
We at TMV highly recommend a visit! You may even recognise some of our clothing in the shop too...

Vintage & Homemade Living Magazine

We're very excited to have this wonderful new magazine in stock! Its a local magazine full of lovely articles, features and tips, all about vintage and homemade goodness. The first issue features a wonderful how-to make quirky cake stands, a feature about the coolest of dolls, the Blythe dolls and a gorgeous spread on fab summer vintage styles.

We're also happy to be featured in the first issue with our 1968 Morris Minor, William! The article is about our sister company 'Classic Car Hire Essex' (www.classiccarhireessex.com) and our lovely car, who we call William, who you can hire out for a day or longer. Very happy to be included in this wonderful magazine! Check out www.vintageandhomemadeliving.co.uk for more info...

High Street Heights

Our second week at Chelmsford High Street saw many of you coming down to enjoy the sunshine and the good shopping that the city centre has to offer.  And so many of you came to see us at our lovely little stall outside Topshop.

It seems excitement and anticipation for the summer is rife as our denim shorts and little tops flew off the shelves!  Many more of these to come next week!! (with loads of new and original designs being crafted here at TMV Headquarters!)

We were so glad to be able to provide one-off party pieces for many of you and delighted to have our presence returned to the high street.  It really does feel good to be able to talk to our customers and for those of you who requested particular items, we will be bringing them along next Saturday for you to browse.

A big thank you to all who came along to see us and also to those just passing who decided to come and have a look around.  We will be back next week with loads of our vintage and hand-making friends too as part of the All Together Now Festival!!!!

See you soon!
Lots of Love,

Truly Madly Vintage

TMV Open House - How It Went

Sorry it has taken so long to post about this but...
The first TMV open house event at TMV HQ on Saturday 7th April had a great turnout and we enjoyed meeting customers old and new to give them a chance to peruse all of our clothing and lots of our furniture stock.  The barn really lends itself to the occasion and gives us a fantastic backdrop for all of the gorgeous vintage treasures on display.  Take a look...

Finds of the day included an original 1940s suit for Dave which could have been tailor-made for him – after searching for nearly 2 years and many purchases that were “not quite right” we are so happy for him and his wife as they attend lots of 1940s events and can now go in true vintage style.

Another success story was Stefanie who, we think you'll agree, looked simply stunning in her new halter-neck maxi dress... she didn't get the hat on the day but has since bought it through the website as she couldn't live without it!

Thank you so much to all of you who came out to support us, almost everyone went away with shiny new treasures which we know you love. The next event will be on Saturday 5th May so don't miss out, put it in the diary now, and we'll remind you closer to the time as well.

Sunshine on Sea! A little bit of nostalgia from the early 1960's

We loved discovering this delightful documentary about Southend-on-sea from 1964, especially as this seaside town is just up the road from our HQ. How things have changed! Prepare to laugh and smile nostalgically as you watch this video.
